Is Pinterest Still Worth It for My Business?

There have been many rumblings in the online Pinterest marketing space as to whether Pinterest is still worth it or not. We've seen glitches and some traffic drops, even what we're dubbing The Great Pinterest Crash of 2021, where many people had their accounts deactivated for a short time.

Are you wondering if Pinterest is still worth it for you and your business? In this blog post, I go over why I say yes, Pinterest can still be considered a lucrative marketing platform.

1. Pinterest is going through changes

There is no denying that Pinterest is going through a cycle of change. Besides some new features, we have seen some unfortunate glitches, such as Pinterest marking many accounts as spam (even though they were definitely not!). Alongside the traffic slump of July, experienced yearly by many niches, many users are still struggling with the pandemic or starting to travel again, as some areas open up. Leaving many Pinterest creators despondent in their traffic and Pinterest marketing efforts. However, we need to remember that Pinterest is a fluid platform; it's constantly changing, and its users may show signs of seasonal behaviour.

2. Idea Pins

A lot of creators are not so eager to utilize idea pins - but why not? I know you can't link out to your website, but Idea pins have other benefits; they're increasing followers, increasing clicks to your profile, and it's the way that Pinterest is moving… We invest in these tools as we know they point back to our business. And if you hook onto these new features by Pinterest - Pinterest will return the favor!

3. Take a step back and reflect on your numbers

Why do you use Pinterest? This is the ultimate question? Maybe to gain traffic, sell more digital products, grow your email list, or simply to get more leads to your business… The performance of the result you're seeking is your KPI - your key performance indicator.

KPIs can be a lot of different things, but, essentially, they are a data point. It is the data we use to measure our business's health and effectiveness and make decisions about the future of our business. KPIs can be conversion rates, revenue, etc. It's just a way to measure your effectiveness in business, and they are different for all different types of business.

Take a step back and look at all your marketing efforts, where you're spending your time and money, and the results you're getting. This is the biggest consideration when considering your next move with Pinterest. Sure, your Pinterest traffic may be down - but how's your traffic doing across the board? And over the last 3 -6 months?

4. What's working at the moment on Pinterest and lean it

You need to play the game on the platform to see success. We're in a time of ebb and flow with these marketing platforms, assess your KPIs and what you want for your business in the long term.

Also, be aware that there is so much that goes into a successful Pinterest strategy; keyword strategy, images, business niche, video, etc. So be careful of those that say they can increase your web traffic exponentially overnight with Pinterest! What you're looking for is a Pinterest marketing strategy that goes the distance and can weather the storm.

I don't think Pinterest is dead, I believe it's here for the long term, and one of the most important things is that the USERS still love it. We need to accept some hiccups along the way as Pinterest evolves to its next stage. Stick with Pinterest if you know WHY you're using Pinterest and see it working long-term to reach your business marketing goals.
