4 Simple Pinterest Strategies to Quickly Grow Your Website's Traffic

Ciao Bella! 👋

Thank you for taking the time to read and learn more about the powerhouse that is Pinterest!

If you’re new to Pinterest, you can read my blog post on how to set up your Pinterest business profile (which is the first step you need to take on your business’ Pinterest marketing journey). Once you’re comfortable in using Pinterest marketing, you’re ready to dive into more Pinterest strategies to grow your website traffic - and develop more leads!

In this blog post, I share four pillars of success for getting more traffic to your website from Pinterest. Let’s get started!

  1. Keyword Optimization

One of the main differences between Pinterest and other social media platforms is that you have to treat Pinterest as a search engine. The #1 best way to get your pins seen by more of the right people is with good keyword research, keyword strategy, and keyword optimization of your profile.

Content is in fact categorized by targeted descriptive keywords, pin information, and a board title; three areas that Pinterest uses to identify each pin to connect users who search for relevant words.

When used correctly, keyword-optimized content increases website traffic by optimizing pins to increase search rank, and appear higher on Pinterest home feeds.

2. Stand-out Branded Pin Graphics

Pinterest users are continuously scrolling through an endless sea of images and options on Pinterest. If you want to boost your chances of getting their attention you need to brand your pins on Pinterest. Branded pins are more recognizable and look more professional (and trustworthy).

Successful Pinterest marketers have uniquely designed pins and follow 5 key elements of a well-branded pin. Here’s the process for you to follow:

  • Logo or website URL

This can be a text logo, image logo, or your website URL. It should be visible on every pin.

  • Consistent Branding Color Palette

Choose 2-5 colors you use consistently (save your HEX codes to refer to easily).

  • Consistent Branding Font Palette

Choose 1-2 fonts you use consistently in your branding to be included in your pin design. Typically you’ll choose an easy-to-read font for the title and maybe fun or decorative font to accent part of the pin design.

  • Consistent Pin Design Layout

The pin design layout is how the words, images, and graphics are arranged on the pin. Your pins should have a consistent layout.

  • Consistent  Pin Design Graphic Elements

This can be as simple as a line, a box, or an arrow. These small signature graphic elements help set you apart.

3. Consistency

If you’re serious about using Pinterest, I would suggest using a scheduler to pin on a regular basis, every day! Ideally, you should be pinning 5 - 25 pins a day.

Wonder how a Pinterest scheduler like Tailwind works? A scheduler sends out your Pins for you based on the time you select. You select the posts, the time, and the date, and the scheduling tool Pins them to your board for you at the appointed time.

4. Time

Pinterest takes time (it's a slow roll, but it pays off over time!).

As time goes by while you use the platform, you should be tracking your progress on a regular basis – it tells you if your marketing efforts are paying off, or not.

At the end of each month, head over to Pinterest Analytics and Google Analytics to export the data you need to track and measure your success.

If you are running a paid Pinterest campaign, check your campaign statistics from time to time to see if any adjustments are needed.
