How to Get Content Ideas from Pinterest Analytics

Ciao Bella! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog today.

So I imagine that you’re in the Pinterest marketing phase where you’ve set up your Business Pinterest account (you can check out how to set this up here if you still need to do this), you’ve created some pins, experimented with a pinning strategy and now you’re in the phase of coming up with new content ideas for blogs. These blogging content ideas are going to play a big part in your Pinterest sales funnel. So let me show you how you can use your Pinterest Analytics to generate your blogging content ideas.

Generating Content Ideas for Blogs

For new blogging content ideas that you know will do well on Pinterest, you can dive straight into Pinterest’s own analytics.

Simply go to Analytics > Overview and if you’re advertising, change Content types to “Organic,” change your Claimed accounts to your URL (to exclude your Pins to others’ content), Devices to “All” and Source “All,” so you can see the impact of your own activity and that of others on clicks.

Scroll down to Top Pins and and change the drop-down option to link clicks.

What can you learn from this? See which Pins have the highest click rate. What do they have in common? Is one particular style or topic recurring in the top ten? The answers to these questions will guide you in brainstorming new blogging content ideas that resonate well with your audience on Pinterest.

Now, change the “Claimed accounts” option to “Other Pins” to see what Pins to other people’s content are getting clicks. What can you adopt from their topics to get some of that action for your own content?

Generating New Pin Design Ideas and Styles

Besides looking at topics, be sure to analyze the pin styles and designs that are doing well and see if you can replicate it into your own pin designs going forward to get more engagement with your pins.

Understanding what Pinners Want

Besides looking into the successful topics and pin styles, it’s also important to get into the minds of a pinner. And what do pinners want? Pinners want inspiration and aspiration!

If you’re wondering how to support aspiration and inspiration in your Pin design and description, think about encouraging and empowering your followers. When you create new Pins, start from your audience’s perspective. Why do they use Pinterest? What kinds of ideas are they looking for? How can you help them make decisions? With these questions in mind, you can use your Pinterest analytics as a jumping board.

Once you’ve got a good grounding as to what your blog content should be about, and you’re ready to get into designing your pins. Remember to take into account Pinterest’s best creative practices.
