How to Come Up with Pinterest Board Names

Ciao Bella! Thanks for stopping by.

Now that you're convinced Pinterest marketing can absolutely work for your business AND you’re done creating a Pinterest business account (click here if you still need to do this and want step-by-step instructions), let's create some Pinterest boards and come up with Pinterest board names! Here’s some advice on how to come up with some Pinterest board names so you can start pinning.

What exactly is a Pinterest board?

What is a Pinterest board?⁣

These are the ‘vessels’ where your pins will live. When you pin your own content (or quality content from others), you will pin to a specific board (this is where coming up with Pinterest board names is important). For example, a pin that directs a user to a blog post on how to create valuable content for your email list could go on the following Pinterest boards:

  • Content Creation

  • Email Marketing

  • Small Business Tips

  • Marketing Tips

See where I'm going with this? Pin the same pin to multiple relevant boards, with keyword-rich Pinterest Board Names. More Pinterest board names combos = more chances for one or more of those pins to cause your traffic to skyrocket (but more on your Pinterest pinning in my next post)!

Ready to get started creating your Pinterest Board Names? Here are my top tips:

  • Create at least 5-10 boards when getting started

  • Make sure the Pinterest Board Names are keyword-friendly. Think of Pinterest as if Google and Instagram had a baby. The power of a search engine like Google and the visual powerhouse that is Instagram combined! In terms of Pinterest search engine optimization, board names need to be clear, concise, and descriptive. If you tick all of these boxes in your board names, it will make them far easier to find.

  • Name one Pinterest board the name of your business. As an example, Ciao Bella Media | Content Marketing + Pinterest is one of my boards

How specific should I get with Pinterest Board Names?

Like I previously mentioned, Pinterest is more like a search engine than a social media platform. Therefore the first thing you have to realize when choosing your Pinterest board names is that keywords are everything.

When you think about your business’ niche, or your blog, you probably have a list of topics you write about often. Personally, I blog about Pinterest and content marketing. Some of my topics could therefore be about using Pinterest for business, automating and streamlining your Pinterest marketing strategy, or how to grow your newsletter with Pinterest. Your topics should reflect you; if you have a homestead blog, you could probably write about topics like gardening, raising goats, or natural living.

One of the keys to Pinterest board names that work well is to take those keywords and use them for your board names. Simple as that.

So in my case, naming my Pinterest boards like Pinterest Marketing for Entrepreneurs and Tailwind Tips for Pinterest Marketing will set me up for success.

Set the time aside to optimize and brand your account with new boards. You'll want to be able to look back and say, "Yep, that truly represents my brand and what my business is all about”.
